Nature's Remedies: Fibromyalgia

For many the deep down symptoms of Fibromyalgia can be life altering and crippling. There are some that have even been confined to their home because of the vast array of symptoms and reactions that Fibromyalgia can cause. Many who suffer with Fibro tend to have chemical sensitivities as well. These sensitivities are usually a reaction to some sort of exposure to an unnatural item or substance. After an exposure one can be hit with Fibro attacks from hell. Some of the main symptoms that many including myself have experienced include: red blotchy skin, inflamed joints and muscles, sensitive skin, mood swings, sensitive to the touch and other symptoms that are so harsh one can never put them into words. Fibro can affect your overall body and emotional state of mind. Some reactions or Fibro attacks can last for days and even weeks.

Through my experiences I have learned that there is some relief when an attack happens. The stuff I have found that helps relieve the symptoms was all done by trial and error. What works for me may not work for others, however it's worth a try! :-)

Lavender Essential Oil: Helps to relieve inflammation due to Neuralgia and other common ailments. Mix 10 drops of the oil with 2 tablespoons of St. John's Wort oil and gently rub it into the affected areas for pain relief.

Hypericum perforatum: Taken sub-lingually this homeopathy choice has no side effects and is safe to use with children. Hypericum Perforatum works great for nerve pain or pain associated with the nerves or pressure on them. In severe cases you should take 5 tabs in a strength of 6C under the tongue every 15 to 30 minutes until pain subsides or is tolerable then follow with 5 tabs every 2 to 3 hours as needed. You can follow up with a lesser dosage like 12C or 30C once the initial pain has been released.

Arnica Montana: Taken sub-lingually this homeopathy medicine aids in reducing even the worst cases of inflammation. Arnica is so beneficial it has even been used to prevent and stop premature labor and birth in pregnant women. As with all homeopathic medicines you should take the highest dose possible at the first onset and continue till the symptoms begin to subside. When symptoms begin to subside you can lessen the dose amount or simply take them less often. Arnica comes both in sub-lingual tabs and in a cream, gel and oil to place directly on your body.

Belladonna: yet another homeopathic medicine that works wonders for your body! Belladonna is commonly used to treat scarlet fever. However the benefits go far beyond reducing a high fever. Belladonna has many purposes. It aids as a relaxer for your overall body. Taking a high strength (6c) every 15 to 30 minutes is only recommended in the most severe of reactions and fibro cases. If your symptoms are minimal take 5 tabs sub-lingually every 1 to 2 hours until pain subsides. Combine them with the Arnica for a quicker and longer lasting effect. You can take Belladonna on a regular bases to aid in these symptoms but if you do, you will want to choose a lesser dosage like a 12C or 30C. Take note that Belladonna will make you sleepy if used in a high dose multiple times. It can be used at night as a sleeping aid to help your body relax and fall asleep with ease. Belladonna is safe for children in small doses and is known to be a wonderful aid in teething relief. Belladonna also helps a nauseous stomach.

Chamomile & Lavender bath: Nothing will help relax your body and mind like a nice calm and cozy warm bath. Place a sachet or cloth baggy full of organic lavender and chamomile flowers/leaves. Let the herbs steep into the warm bath water and relax for at least 15 to 20 minutes. The benefits of the herbs absorbing into your body and the aromatic smells will help ease your symptoms in no time.

Thyme Bath: The herb Thyme is a natural anti-inflammatory for swollen joints, aching muscles and sensitive (creepy crawly) skin. Pour two quarts of hot (but not boiling) water over two cups of dried Thyme leaves; steep for 20 minutes covered; strain and add to bath. **In high doses Thymol has been known to irritate the skin. Avoid Thyme all together if you are pregnant.

During a Fibromyalgia attack avoid any excess exposures! Stay home and take care or you could make the situation worse. Your state of mind plays a vital role in how quickly your symptoms will subside. Treat or pamper yourself when you are experiencing a fibro episode. Self meditation and knowing that this will pass will also help aid in your recovery time. Avoid emotional conflicts while dealing with Fibro as your emotions will be more susceptible to reaction as well as your body. Fibromyalgia is an overall emotional and physical reaction to weather and environmental toxins. Take care and treat yourself right away to avoid a longer and unneeded experience.
