Lovin' this Winter Weather
I have been craving a good snow fall all this winter. Today we are getting it and I couldn't be happier (see image above of todays snow). I've had the house to myself and the quietness hasn't been disturbed by a snow plow yet. The schools dismissed early but are still there waiting on a couple more buses. I figure I have a good 15 minutes more of silence before the school bus pulls up out front. Tom will be home in about 2 or 3 hours and then the normality of things will continue. I doubt there will be school tomorrow between the accumulation of snow that is still expected and the dropping temperature.
I just checked our radar and weather. Seems our county is under a Level 1 Snow Emergency and a Winter Storm Warning. The temperature is lingering in the low teens at the moment, but with the wind it feels below zero. I bet it's all they can do to keep up with the main roads so our little traveled side road will be last on the list. I presume Tom will plow the driveway to the house and the big one out by the garage tonight. He'll have to shovel a pathway if he even wants to get out there. (giggles)
I've been hoping for this type of weather for a while. I love the Ohio winters we used to get. I haven't seen the amount of snow like it was when I was a kid in a very long time. I want a couple of feet at least. We may get 6 or more inches with this storm. A good couple of days of the family being stuck inside and gathered around the fire is good energy and memories. During the cold weather I always make sure we have plenty of canned and frozen food, wood to burn and gas for the generator if needed. I don't mind doing with out power in the winter but I prefer to have it. I love it when everything has to close down and loved ones have no choice but to spend time with each other. Tis good for the spirit! I hope we get enough snow for just that!

A good, thick snowfall is so purifying.
What a gorgeous picture!
You can love it all you want, but I'd rather it warmed up just a bit. We've had to keep the kitties inside for the past 2 days and nights, and now I remember why they're outside! My whole house smells like a litter box, which is all the more wonderful considering that I react heavily to the litter fragrance. So on top of feeling like I got hit by a Mack truck because of the effect this deep cold has on my fibro, I'm on day 3 of a major MCS reaction. With probably at least 2 more days to go! So enjoy the snow, but pray for warmer temps, please...
Thanks for your comment Kristin! I'm glad you liked my picture. I too think a good thick snow is quite cleansing. :-)
Princess Jenni, I'm with you! I do love this snow and it can continue if it wants, but man oh man do I wish for a little warmer temps. It hasn't even made it to the positive side of the thermometer yet today. It's taking its toll on my arthritis and fibro as well. I have found that the homeopathic medicines of Arnica and Belladonna in the 6C sub-lingual taken 8 to 10 times a day really aids in the symptoms neurotically and physically. I'll try to write a post today on some of the cold weather cures and easements.
As for the kitty liter... I have to have Destiny or Tom do the box as I can't be that close or even in the same room when she is scooping. We did finally find a brand that was tolerable with the sensitivities. Petsmart carries their own unscented and scoopable brand in 40 pound boxes. The dust is minimal compared to many and even though it is unscented it seems to keep quite a bit of the poopy and others smells down to a minimal and that's with approx. 12 cats using two giant litter boxes. Hope the info might help. :-) Blessings for a wonderful weekend!
