Weekly Lunar Reading:

Happy Imbolc my Universal Family! The First of February belongs to Brigid, (Brighid, Brigit, Bride,) the Celtic goddess who in later times became revered as a Christian saint. Originally, her festival on February 1 was known as Imbolc or Oimelc, two names which refer to the lactation of the ewes, the flow of milk that heralds the return of the life-giving forces of spring. Later, the Catholic Church replaced this festival with Candlemas Day on February 2, which is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and features candlelight processions. The powerful figure of Brigid the Light-Bringer overlights both pagan and Christian celebrations. Many people of different faiths celebrate a variety of styles and ways yesterday and today.

Imbolc is mostly celebrated by women. Until recently, women in the Outer Hebrides Islands would re-sanctify their houses each February, bringing Brigit into the croft in the form of these items: new fire, Brigit's sun wheel cross, and her plaited straw belt or crois.

This time of year the trees begin to show a sign of life once more. We may not see it on the outside but their sap begins to move slowly once more. The darkness of night that began on Samhain, now yields the returning sun. Ewes give birth at this time to produce milk to feed their lambs. We too as humans go through a form of growth or renewal during this time. We are urged to allow the cycle to shed our skin/allowing a new smooth and beautiful layer to develop. Please see one of my previous posts 'Cleansing of the Spirit & Soul' for multiple and highly affective blessings & rituals to cleanse ones emotional and spiritual self.

The days begin to grow longer as we approach the balance of the upcoming Spring Equinox (Ostara), when both day and night (light & dark) are perfectly equal. Many of us are feeling the need for the growing days of sunlight. The dark days of winter tend to leave some of us feeling down, depressed or even ill. Your creative mind and cleansing acts will be most productive during this time if you choose to acknowledge. I recommend doing a Soul & Spirit Cleansing or a Cleansing Ritual Bath before you begin any form of physical or spiritual manifestations or creations. Any problems lingering around your mind may be causing a lack of sleep. Confront your tasks and finish them before the upcoming full moon. You need the feeling of ease and accomplishment this week to reassure your chosen corse of actions and creations.

If you are experiencing relationship troubles or communication problems with a loved one, take care. This means things are a little sensitive around the edges for the moment. Take extra time and notice the highlights and the little things you really love and enjoy about that person. Reflect on those and only those thoughts. Tell the person directly how important they are to you and that you have been reflecting on all the little things you love about them. This in it's self will aid in the healing of the tension or the 'too content' feeling one or both of you have.

For the Magic Doers & Light Workers:

Your Hearth/Home is one of the most important places and should be cleansed metaphysically monthly. During the approaching Spring and Ostara are an important time to cleanse such areas and your home as a whole. We must rid the lingering residual and negative energy that has accumulated in the dark months of winter. Any form of cleansing done by herbal smudging, a witch's broom, reiki, vibrational mists and/or blessings and prayers is prefect. Using a combination of any of these simply makes new energy more positive on a vibrational scale.

There are hundreds of blessings and prayers for your home and kitchen to cleanse and rid. You can Google about anything these days! I too have my own collection that I have personally written with the help of ancestral energy.

Reverend Rainbow Tree's
Home Blessing
May God/Goddess/Spirit give blessings to the house that is here.
Bless the stone and beams that provide the foundation.
Bless the window from foot and head that provide light.
Bless the entrance that welcomes us home.
Bless the dwellers that sleep within these walls.
We are blessed for the gifts of this home.
So blessed be it.

Your Mission for this week:

Spend a day or evening with a close friend or companion. Reflect on the small things in life that you share in common. Share a glass of wine or a loaf of fresh baked bread. Make a list of 5 things that you simply adore about that person and hand it to them when it would be unexpected. The celestial voice is urging you to connect with those already around you. We often take our loved ones for granted and forget to show them how much we really do take and love them. This week your mission is ware your heart on your sleeve. Speak, show and feel love for all those around you. You have an abundance of friends and family who care deeply and love unconditionally. Embrace this abundance by acknowledging your current relationships.

Feel free to come back to the blog and post how you spent your day. Share your happenings with fellow readers. :-)
